No Group Classes Running During Covid-19 Pandemic
We are offering private sessions only at this time,
as well as private Skype and Zoom sessions.
Since we are now running private puppy classes in person,
we can see you and your puppy sooner!
Please check with your vet first and let your vet know that
this is a private session with no other dogs present.
This is NOT a formal obedience class. We strongly recommend Novice Obedience training afterwards and we offer a 10% discount if you continue within a month of completing puppy class.
The focus in Puppy 101 will be on teach you how to properly socialize your new puppy so that it is comfortable around the various things it will encounter in its environment.
You will also learn how to teach your puppy HOW TO LEARN using food lures to shape basic body positions and how to teach your puppy how to maintain the position by teaching the release command. You will learn how to engage your puppy even in distractions and we will introduce the recall as well.
Structured play time will happen on leash at the end of each class.
You will also learn how to:
Deal with Nipping and Biting
House Train your new pet
Crate Train (the crate must never be used for punishment)
Which Toys are the Safest & Which Toys to Avoid
How to Play and NOT to Play with your Puppy
Puppies under 16 weeks of age must be on a harness (regular harness, NOT an 'Easy Walk Harness that attaches to the front) and a 6' leash is required. Larger breed dogs may go on a training collar earlier – we will advise you on this.
We sell a variety of items you will need at our facility. We do have harnesses to fit most puppy breeds, except for the very small breeds. Please contact us to book an appointment for a fitting.
